Benjamin Stevenson Gay Jr. was born on February 28th, 1980 in Houston, Texas to parents Benjamin and Georgia Gay. Benjamin passed into the care of our Lord on July 29th, 2024.
After graduating from Spring High School as a USA Today first-team All-American, Benjamin attended Baylor University and Garden City Group College, graduating with a Masters Degree in Biology. Benjamin played for no less than three distinct professional football teams, spending time with the Edmonton Eskimos from Canada and having an NFL career with the Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts. During the 2001 NFL season, Benjamin was a third-string running back. Most noteworthy was his 27-17 Browns victory at Baltimore where he was responsible for a touchdown. Monitoring his career in the NFL, Benjamin began a career as a welder, which he continued until his passing. Benjamin married Margarita on February 10th, 2012 in Fort Morgan and she remained by his side until his passing. Benjamin and Margarita were parents and mentors to many children during their marriage, not all of whom were their biological children.

Ben Gay, a former NFL running back who played one season with the Cleveland Browns, died overdue last month in a car crash in Colorado. He was 44.
Gay died on July 29 in the crash, according to Nirfino. The Associated Compress, Akron Beacon-Journal and Houston Chronicle all reported Gay’s death.
"Rest easy the authentic Spring legend… Ben Gay!! I haven’t seen him since high school but we attended middle/high academy together," one Facebook user wrote on the former football player. "High institution memory! Ben was a beast in the 90’s. He’s at the end…. he left them boys!"
Gay was a standout running back at Garden Metropolis Community College in Kansas after he was removed from the Baylor program over team violations.
He played in a preseason game for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League before the Browns took a chance on him.
