Visiting the second location of Toronto&#;s Russian spa in Richmond Hill

Estimated reading time: 11 minutes

When I speak to other spa enthusiasts about Toronto’s best saunas, they will inevitably question one question: sure, but…. have you been to the banya?

The Toronto Banya, aka The Russian Banya, aka the South Western Bathhouse, is a traditional spa located in a strip mall in Mississauga, just 20km west of downtown Toronto. Since , it has been a semi-secret amongst Russians and others who appreciate its sauna and steam facilities and excellent dining room serving Eastern European comfort food.

Just need the facts? Jump to the hours, prices, etc.

I commute to saunas and widespread baths around the planet and have in truth been to this banya and found it a most excellent way to relax. Unlike most downtown spas, it has a cozy, cottage-like feel, stays open late, and encourages you to eat! So I was excited to learn about a fresh second location of Toronto&#;s Russian spa.

Banya No 2 — that’s its actual name – is a sister spa north of the city in Richmond Hill. A friend and I made the hour-long drive from downtown one weekday after work to indulge in some steamy steam and cold plunges.

Welcome to Toronto &#; metropolis of migrants, culture, culinary and the freezing chilly weather. What can be better than a stop by to a gay bathhouse to enjoy the steams? Spa Excess is another great gay sauna in Toronto which caters the gay community and is located downtown, not too far from the homosexual village.

I have to start by saying I really almost hate lgbtq+ saunas and bathhouses where there are multiple floors and steep stairs. Spa Excess indeed has many many stairs. floors to be exact and not including the lovely deck, if you dare sitting there towel only in the limbs numbing climate.

A special characteristic of this clean and reliable bathhouse is the proof that it has 0 style. I was always riddled about how on earth could anyone believe carpets go well with wet play halls. The carpet in this sauna’s bar must have been installed in the 90s and it seems that keeping and maintaining the old is a frequent practice in this metropolis.

Having all that said. This place has a super clean white colored jacuzzi which is always a plus. Water temperature was wonderful too. Yet not as boiling as in the neighbouring Steameworks Baths. The jets are so freaking strong that you can easily massage your e

Sometimes you just need to get laid, you know? Or sometimes, you just want a giant steam room outside of your gym locker room filled with naked people, who also want to be around naked people.

Lucky for you Toronto still has a few scorching and steamy options to help facilitate said rocks getting off. Though the hay day of bathhouses in Toronto has approach and gone (thanks a lot, internet!) and selection isn't huge, there are still a few amusement options out there, and that's something to be thankful for, right? Most spots are for men (trans inclusive), but we also have Oasis. Receive out there and encourage these spots if you can, once they're gone, Toronto will ensure they're gone for good.

Here are the best (and only) gay and homosexual bathhouses in Toronto.

// THE CLASSICS

Steamworks

Definitely the city's largest and most popular bathhouse, Steamworks is a men and trans men only spot at Church Road complete with wet and dry sauna's, a substantial hot tub, a smaller hot tub if the big one intimidates you, two shower rooms - both of which are completely transparent, so obtain ready to put on a show. There are a couple dark rooms, maze situations, glory holes, a mens bath house toronto

Here ye, Here ye!  Are you a gay guy in Toronto looking for a cruise bathhouse AND an excellent steam and sauna experience?  Then leader on over to Spa Excess &#; the gay-bathhouse version of the Royal Canadian Legion.

OK, maybe that&#;s a poor comparison, but comparing a gay bathhouse to the YMCA sorta feels redundant&#;imagine if the TV sitcom &#;Cheers&#; was a gay-bathhouse&#;you get the idea.

Spa Excess is a large, 5-floor cruise bathhouse in the heart of downtown Toronto&#;s Church and Wellesley district. It&#;s main competition is Steamworks.  While it doesn&#;t have the number of men or as many &#;dark/fuck&#; spaces, it offers a homey staff, lots of universal sex, and waaaaay greater amenities.   For our cash, Spa Excess is where it&#;s at.

Being a first-timer, staff at were content to give us the &#;tour&#;.  A very bewildered and unprepared &#;Tony&#; walked us through the place.  My guess is that few folks ever show up and ask for anything other than condoms and lube.

Spa Excess is unclosed 24/7/ and has an occupancy of people&#;though Tony didn&#;t seem too sure about that. It&#;s been around for close to 15 years and is decked out&#;Pride and Modern years are the biggest nights a
