Cruising mens rooms

How did toilet cruising work?

I was reading an gay move guide from , and it reminded me that I've never understood the mechanics of the toilet pick-up. One of the notable features of the guide is that among all the bars and bathhouses listed, many locations also suggest cruising toilets. This seems soinherently sketchy. How would you realize when it was guarded to signal to somebody? Don't you run the constant risk of an embarrassing and dangerous confrontation? Do you actually hold sex in the bathroom, or is a meeting point? And given that these locations are so well established that they appear in a journal guide, wouldn't they be easy pickings for the police?

Any info or stories about etiquette and risk mitigation would be of interest.

Bonus points if you can explain how toilet cruising worked in an international context. After a formidable warning about how hazardous cruising is in the Middle East, for example, the guide lists toilets in Syria and Kuwait. There are similar listings throughout the world. While cruising in the U.S. sounds risky, it seems like only those with a death wish would cruise toilets as a tourist in Middl

More back when I was a wee lad, but even on occassion now, I would view messages scribed into the walls of public bathrooms that read:

Now then, since I wasn’t in the market to gave strange guys carry out that sort of thing to me, I can’t say I ever popped by at However, it seems to me that this is a improved way to get the crap beat out of you than to become some sort of earthly delight. So, I figure…
(A) Gay bashers display such notes in request to beat up those who show up
(B) Gay people post such notes and are overcome up by gay bashers who respond
© Both A & B occur, which would make for an interesting sight.
(D) Gay people post such notes and are met by other gay people and all is well.

Anyone know which of those was most frequent? Favor I said, it seems like a hoax to me, but then I guess it was harder to meet homosexuals help then which would elaborate why you don’t observe as many notes now (more acceptance). But even still, there’s got to be a better way. Oh well… such is the mind of pale heterosexual upper-middle class suburban youth.

For centuries (or longer!) gay and bi guys have start ways to connect with each other, even when doing so was illegal. These days lots of gay guys are using Grindr for hooking up. But we didn&#;t always have sex obtainable at our fingertips. From bathhouses to bars, sex parties to saunas, even to parks and bathrooms. Gay guys have create a way to discover each other, even before Grindr.

For the past 11 years, up until this past January, I lived in New York City. It&#;s one of the centers of queer life in the Joined States. It&#;s a port city and after the sailors returned home from World War II, many of the guys who had found connections, if you know what I mea

Let&#;s Examine the Phenomenon of Cruising Bathrooms Through 4 Famous Queer Men

Throughout history and for a variety of reasons, queer men have looked to public bathrooms as places to get laid. Some men enjoy cruising public restrooms because they’re turned on by the exhibitionism and the possibility of getting caught, while others see it as a place to anonymously and discretely have a same-sex encounter in times when being outed as queer carries severe social, political and legal consequences.

Cruising public restrooms has grow an ingrained part of queer history, with mixed feelings surrounding it. On one hand, it’s considered so seedy, sexy and transgressive that “toilet tramp” hookup scenes have turn into a common scenario in gay porn (and even inspired drawings of same-sex attracted erotic illustrator Tom of Finland).

On the other hand, it’s also considered by some to be a dark side of gender non-conforming sexuality and history that has been used to shame queer men for their otherwise harmless sexual proclivities (often in the name of protecting children or public decency).

Noting both sides, gay video game designer Robert Yang made a bathroom cruising video game in entitled The Tearoom as a way t
